Your Least Favorite Test Is....

Hi everyone, I have a couple more evaluation videos to continue my assessment series (that abruptly dropped off in June, whoops!). I will be done with the series in a few more videos. But now I'm sharing your least favorite assessment: the PLS5. I actually like this assessment, which makes me an outlier, I know. I don't think I've EVER met an SLP that likes this assessment. But it does structure some play elements for a play-based assessment. However, I think it's important to consider this assessment in the context of the child as well. Most SLPs would say this assessment is "easy" and I think that's correct. I think it's utility is when you have a student with limited skills and you want to show that there are things they can do, you can get out the PLS5 and get some information. I also like getting my own kids out of the house and back in school. This year I have a rising senior so we have a lot going on here as we have done some college visits this summer. Long time no see, friends! My last emails came out in June when I was on a roll with a new video every week. But July got busy (college visits with my older son and also work work) and I didn't have time to edit my videos or send any emails. I guess that's just life! Hi everyone, This week I'm walking through the Test of Word Finding, 3rd edition. And I like it a lot. Finding a good test of word finding is important because we've all had those clients who really struggle to find words. What I like about this test is that there are two main components. The first easel you administer to test clients' abilities to find a word when given a picture, without a picture, and then verbs. Then after you are done with that, you get out the comprehension check easel....
