Hi everyone, Back 18 months ago....one of you fabulous people named Mary reached out to me and asked me to create a Spanish version of the Imitation Hierarchy by Laura Mize. The Imitation Hierarchy is something that I think a lot of SLPs know on a gut level, but back before I wasn't aware of a formal hierarchy. It is part of the 180 page Building Verbal Imitation Skills in Toddlers program that Laura Mize has created on her website. She is a legend and a tremendous resource who has a ton of useful products including low cost ASHA CEUs too. I went ahead and worked with a professional translator to collaborate on creating something that would be beneficial for both SLPs and parents. By creating this resource, I am absolutely not trying to step on anyone's toes and also I am not sponsored by Laura Mize or her Teach Me to Talk website. This is a freebie and I am not charging for it and I'm making no money from it. In fact, I paid a professional translator to collaborate with me to make sure what I create is right. CLICK HERE for the PDF: IMITATION HIERARCHY The first page is the original content in English and the second page is the same (or very close) in Spanish. You can't always directly translate in Spanish so you choose words that mean the same conceptually. I just wanted to get this out in the world in Spanish because I think it will help bilingual families and bilingual SLPs! Going back to the Imitation Hierarchy, it describes non-verbal communicative behaviors that are the building blocks to communication. It offers suggestions on how to increase those behaviors and also some early speech too. Thanks Mary for the request for a Spanish copy. Feel free to ask me to create something for you - I'm open to suggestions any time! Have an awesome week, everyone! All the best, Sarah 💘

Hi everyone, I'm back at it this Sunday releasing an assessment-focused video. Last week, we discussed the Receptive One Word Picture Vocabulary Test, Spanish-Bilingual Edition, 4th Edition (click to watch last week's). This week I'm talking about it's expressive companion test: the Expressive One Word Picture Vocabulary Test, Spanish-Bilingual, 4th Edition or the EOW PVT SB4 (click to watch) I walk you through the scoring of this assessment. One thing I discuss is that I've heard that this...
Hi everyone, The good news is that 2026 is going pretty good for me, definitely a year of new learning. However, 2024 and 2025 were both two of my worst years ever. I had a lot of hopes for 2025 because it was my year in the Chinese zodiac (I'm the snake). It held so much promise and then in the end it was bust. *cue tears* LUCKILY, it seems like 2026 is slowly becoming a wonderful year where I'm learning a ton of new skills and enjoying the process. I can't wait to share more in subsequent...
Hi everyone, Like I said last week, spring is making me so happy. I just looked outside and saw GREEN BUDS on the trees. That means baby squirrels are next! This squirrel family always has babies in the spring and I can't wait. The babies are so cute and silly. Anyway, I'm back uploading speech therapy related videos on YouTube. I just uploaded a video scoring the CELF4 in Spanish. What a wild test that is in terms of scoring! I'm still waiting for them to release a CELF5 in Spanish and...
